The chief editor of this site has received some information that a parent who had taken her child to Light Academy in Karen, paid the admission deposit of Ksh100k but later changed her mind about the school because her son got accepted at a better school.
When she asked for refund of her money, the school administration refused and threw her out.
She said, Light Academy in Karen refused to refund her her money yet the deadline for payments had not passed.
She actually became desperate to have the school refund her the Ksh100k and suggested that her son’s place be swapped with another student who had not gotten a chance to be admitted, but this fell on deaf ears. Running out of options, she then requested to be refunded half of the money or even a quarter of it but she was still thrown out of the admins office.
Cases of Impunity

In early November, we covered the case of a student that sent us information that the racism perpetuated at the school has driven some students to the point of depression and attempted suicide.
Despite cases of racism, for example at Light International school, the Principal Ismail Tumer has stayed put.
Employment Malpractices and tax evasion
A source at the school informed us that Kenyans are treated like slaves with some teachers taking home a meagre Ksh20,000.

There is an assistant manager who is also a director by the name Ramazan Akkilic who was the Principal of the Light International School. He is a very careless person who has flouted the contract and the laws of Kenya under the employment act; he gives little salary and his response to teachers is ‘take or leave it’. He even makes some employees to work late without overtime payment while people from his country (Turkish) get paid on overtime.
The Turkish foreigners don’t have right government documents like work permit, alien ID card, they hide in the school compound and their kids abuse Kenyans in their mother tongue.
They do manipulate Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) system, whatever they fill is different from what they get.
The appoint themselves to positions which they don’t have any knowledge about.
When a Turkish student does a mistake no point is deducted from the student, but when a Kenyan student does the mistake his or her points are deducted within no time.
When an employee comes late even for 10 minutes, the salary is deducted, they never consider the overtime.
They never pay for the one-month notice for leaving the work to a new organization.
They do go against the Kenya law with impunity.
