Despite the revelation and subsequent sharing of the story by Republican operatives, Gibson continued her campaign until her eventual loss in the election.
In an interview with Politico, Gibson discussed the impact of the leaked videos and criticized those responsible for the breach of privacy.

Gibson maintained that the initial consensual creation of the content sharply contrasts with its non-consensual digital distribution, labeling it a criminal act.
