Cricket Kenya is on the verge of being banned by the International Cricket Council (ICC) after being handed a 1 year notice of suspension at the ICC AGM in 2018. In February of the same year, the then Chairman Jackie Jan Mohammed and her Development Director Abhijeet Raja Sarkar resigned and the Cricket Council were ready to replace the two officials in accordance to the CK Constitution.
The Vice Chairman thirsty for power and cheap thrills challenged the plan. At the same time, the then CS Rashid “the wanker” Echesa appointed an interim committee to run affairs at CK against all laid down procedures and the CK Constitution. This is what happens when you appoint a primary school dropout in such a serious position.
The matter ended up at the Sport Tribunal which after two months of deliberations ruled that the CS’s actions to constitute the interim committee were illegal and unprocedural and that CK should hold elections to replace the members who had resigned.
The CK Council began preparations to hold the elections but the so-called interim committee went to the High Court to challenge the the Sports Tribunal ruling and got an exparte injunction which led to a halt in CK operations.
In December 2018 with the involvement of all parties included dick-stain Richard Echesa, a caretaker committee was appointed to normalise operations at CK. The committee was given 90 days to review the constitution and structures through two sub-committees. The two committees compirising of lazy clowns who just love meetings and allowances coupled with the free bitings during sessions, had not executed their mandate by the close of 90 days.
The emerging challenge is that the former chairman Jacky Jan Mohammed is interfering with the process and now wants to use the back door to come back to the same institutions she resigned from in a huff. Using her experience as a prominent lawyer, she’s working behind the scenes to frustrate any attempt at restoring normalcy at CK. It’s worth noting that she is the one who created this mess when she resigned to begin with.
Worth to note also is the fact that her tenure has been plagued with numerous controversies and poor performance of the National Team, which is now playing in Division 3 down from top-flight. When Jacky was elected, Kenya was playing in Division 1 and had One Day International (ODI) status.
Jacky thrives on bribing sports journalists to project her meagre philanthropic gestures as life saving interventions. Sports cannot be run on handouts and donations because it has the capacity to create massive revenues and sustain itself through job creation and sustainability.
A recent match played in Pakistan also raised queries being that it was the first time for a foreign team to play in the country in over 10 years, due to the volatile security situation. According to Jacky who negotiated terms for the match, Kenya got nothing but when Zimbabwe honoured a similar fixture in the same country, it is rumoured that each player received an appearance fee of $10,000 (Kshs, 1 Million).
As it stands, players and staff at CK have not been paid salaries for about 3 months because the accounts have been frozen.
The Ministry of Sports has opted to now watch and wait on a problem they helped incubate. Worth noting is that CK has never received a single penny from Government with all their funding coming from ICC.
Caption: Sports PS Kirimi Kabera is deeply embedded in the IAAF U17 scam where the Auditor General fingers him for engineering the loss of Kshs. 1.7 Billion. Some were stolen through his brother in-law and owner of Pewin Motors. Others were laundered through Charles Gacheru’s IMG Sports. The file is currently at the DPP’s desk.
While its general consensus that the CK Constitution should be changed, the fact that Kenya is facing a ban in exactly a month today means that drastic measures should be taken to avert a crisis. It will be remembered that institutional stupidity by the same Ministry of Sports saw Kenya eliminated from the World Rally Championship (WRC) circuit in 2002. Even alcoholic and chain-smoking retard Uhuru Kenyatta who was then calling the shots being Moi’s heir apparent, did nothing other than continue smoking marijuana and wanking in his office. Flower girls who joined Government later like Najib Balala did nothing to salvage the situation other than enjoy free trips abroad and act all important as if oxygen is manufactured from his ass.
The quickest solution is to abide by the Sports Tribunal ruling together with comply with ICC statutes, so as to avert this crisis in the near-term.
Sports CS Amina Mohammed needs to surround with solid sporting brains to offer her private advise outside the bureaucratic retards who are currently surrounding her. They recently convinced her to provide Kshs. 240 Million for the National Football Team Harambee Stars based on a fictitious budget drawn up by Nick Mwendwa, who intends to use the money to finance his upcoming elections.
Kshs. 240 Milion is money which can be used to build over 24 grassroots pitches with artificial turf and sprinkler systems, a move which can aid in developing talent across a wide area and boosting Kenya’s chances of qualifying for the WorldCup in 10 years.
With such short-sighted and narrow minded thinking surrounding the new CS, including her PS Kirimi Kaberia who was grossly implicated in the IAAF scam currently being investigated by the Director of Public Prosecutions, she won’t achieve anything in what appears to be her last and final cabinet posting.
