Frustrated members of the workforce at Thika-based real estate firm Lesedi Developers Limited are seeking redress for what they term as outright dishonesty and unfair treatment by the company’s management.
According to the section of employees, the firm that boasts of clients in Nairobi, Kiambu, Nakuru and Machakos has reportedly not been submitting statutory deductions to the Kenyan government as required by the law.
Over the last 6 months, sick staff have been forced to dig deep into their pockets for medical treatment because their NHIF cards are deemed inapplicable due to the defaulted payment over the 25 week period.
When the angry workers confronted the management last week and demanded their P9 forms to submit returns on the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) portal, the Human Resource (HR) Manager falsely claimed there was a recurring system issue that needs to be solved first.
“Hi, Nyakundi,
Please give me my identity.
Please expose Lesedi Developers’ management.
They don’t submit statutory deductions I.e NHIF, NSSF and even KRA.
Right now we want to file returns but when we request P9 we are told by HR that the system has issues.
We have confirmed with NHIF that our company has not submitted our NHIF deductions for the last 6 months.
Some of our colleagues have been sick and when they go to the hospital can’t use their NHIF cards due to default in payment yet we are deducted in our payslips.
Kindly expose this Conmanship,” the source writes.
Last year, concerned members of the public reached out to cnyakundi.com to warn possible land buyers against engaging in business with the company after it reportedly failed to receive their title deeds as agreed upon.
We urge relevant authorities to quickly pick up this matter and come to the rescue of the suffering employees.
It is rather unfortunate that with each passing day, workers across the country continue to lose their faith in the representation of Francis Atwoli.
This year alone, this blog has highlighted more than 50 cases of employee mistreatment and oppression by rogue corporations acting without any leash.
Most rightly feel a fresh and enthusiastic person should take up the union’s roles so as Atwoli continues to do politics of 2022 and BBI.
They have asked him to go back to the drawing board and fight for their interests or leave the union in other hands if he considers BBI and national politics as his main priority.
