Nyaribari Chache MP Zaheer Jhanda has caused a stir on social media after a video of him counting millions of dollars at an undisclosed place surfaced online.
The video shows the lawmaker, who is also a businessman, holding stacks of 100-dollar bills and counting them one by one.

The source of the video and the money is not clear, but some netizens speculated that it could be related to his involvement in the fake gold scam activities.
Jhanda was one of the people who were implicated in a 2019 gold scandal, along with Senate Speaker Moses Wetang’ula and other politicians and businessmen.
The scam involved duping foreign investors into buying fake gold that was allegedly stored in a safe house in Nairobi.
The scammers used the names and images of President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to lure their victims.
Jhanda denied any wrongdoing and claimed that he was a victim of extortion and blackmail.
He said that he was only a consultant who connected buyers and sellers of gold.
The video of Jhanda counting money has elicited mixed reactions from Kenyans online.
Some criticized him for being corrupt and insensitive to the plight of the poor and compared him to Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and comedian Eric Omondi, who also recently flaunted their money in public.
Sonko recently posted a video of him counting bundles of 1,000-shilling notes at his office.
By the time of publishing this post, Jhanda has not commented on the video or its origin.
Jhanda is known for his lavish lifestyle and flamboyant display of wealth.
He is also a staunch supporter of President William Ruto.
