The Labour Court on Thursday, November 14, squashed the appointment of former Nyeri Town MP Esther Murugi (65) and former Isiolo Woman Representative Tiyah Galgalo (53) to the National Lands Commission.
According to reports by Nation, High Court Judge Helen Wasilwa ruled that their appointment was irregular.
“The nomination of the 8th and 9th interested parties herein Esther Murugi Mathenge and Tiyah Galgalo is hereby quashed,” Lady Justice Wasilwa ruled.
The two were among 8 other commissioners appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta for a six-year nonrenewable term.
Members of the National Assembly had initially rejected the nomination of, Galgalo, over suspicious tax declarations.
She went on to state that the vetting process by Parliament of the Ms Murugi and Galgalo was done in excess of parliamentary powers.
Initially, after the vetting of all the nine nominees, the committee chaired by Kitui South MP Rachael Nyamai recommended that the House approves the other eight nominees apart from Ms Galgalo.
