The Amani National Congress (ANC) party on Friday announced that it had suspended Kakamega Senator Cleaophas Malala as a member effective November 14.
The letter by ANC outlined that Mr Malala had violated the governing rules of the party when he campaigned for and wore merchandise marked with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) initials.
The party leadership explained that the National Disciplinary Committee had deliberated the Senator’s attire and the address he gave during an ODM rally and decided that his conduct merited punishment.
“In the said rally, Mr Malala, donning an ODM cap, addressed the rally to support of the ODM candidate while so derogatorily campaigning against his (and our) own candidate for the Kibra parliamentary seat.
“The NDC has decided to suspend Mr Cleopas Malala from the membership of ANC party summarily, with immediate effect,” ANC’s letter read in part.
