Hi Cyprian, am a resident of Mombasa, in particular, a place called Maweni at the corner of Nyali, Maweni & Mnazi Moja. The pictures I will be attaching is someone’s plot that has been turned into a dump site & the county of Mombasa has turned a blind eye to this.
We are suffering due to the smoke that comes from this area &its affecting our children’s chest. In addition,the smell is unbearable and always having flies in our houses. When it rains the area is a breeding place for mosquitoes.
Other dumping places in Maweni, Shauri yako & Kongwea have been closed but this has not.
We are wondering what we should do so that people to stop dumping here and the county to clear the dump site. Please help circulate this maybe something will be done.
What you see is just the tip since it has not rained that much here in Mombasa. The Day Care center was closed down due to the dumping in that plot. The county government of Mombasa should not allow any dumping to take place just like the other place in shauri yako, Maweni & Kongwea.
