Former blogger and Digital strategist Dennis Itumbi has downplayed an embarrassing incident in which he was forcefully evicted from the VVIP podium at the Bomas of Kenya on Wednesday.
In a video that was shared widely on social media, Itumbi had stood behind President Uhuru Kenyatta during the launch of the BBI report before a security officer hauled him out of the podium.
The clip showed Itumbi in a tussle with a security officer guarding the Head of State, whom Itumbi has identified as a Mr Muriithi.
Taking to Twitter, where the clip was first shared leading to ridicule from netizens, Dennis Itumbi praised Mr Muriithi saying he was just doing his job.
“A policeman at work. Itumbi at work. A day in office for us all. The sideshow is good conversation… Wacha polisi afanye kazi yake… Mimi ni mtu mdogo sana… I have only one advantage, Inshallah, time! Haya turudi kwa mambo ya nchi… Salute! Mr. Muriithi, you did well,” posted Itumbi.
In another tweet, Itumbi responded to a post by the Daily Nation captioned: “Embarrassing moment for Dennis Itumbi after he was chased away from podium during the BBI launch.”
Itumbi noted that he was not embarrassed and revealed that he still remained on the podium.
“No embarrassment, just another great day in office… Of course, you see I still remained on the podium. Just one of those moments when everyone is just doing their job… Haha. [I] enjoyed [the moment]. Tuko sawa,” he wrote.
