Farmers and employees of the Kisumu based Muhoroni Sugar Company want the government to move with speed and take the necessary action after the Auditor General unearthed serious rots at the company.
The Kenya National Federation of Sugarcane Farmers and Muhoroni Sugarcane Out growers Company said in a joint statement that Nancy Gathungu’s report is already in the public domain and arrests should made on individuals who misappropriated public funds.
The Chairman of the two groups Mr. Charles Ayumba revealed that the report that uncovered massive corruption and mistreatment of employees was also shared with stakeholders, MUSCO workers and other staffers.
“Sugarcane farmers have for a long time been adversely affected by the above-named issues and this is now a confirmation of the fears that the stakeholders had borne for a long time,” they said in a press statement.
Farmers affiliated to the rotting sugar company are calling on the DCI Boss George Kinoti to send in his boys to make serious arrests as the toothless Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission launches probe with hopes to ensure that report’s recommendations are fully implemented with the culprits thrown behind bars.
The rampant looting at MUSCO is chaired by the general manager of the Environment Department Vitalis Oduor who heads a cartel that includes Francis Ooko, the receiver manager and quality manager Gabriel Odipo.
The three who are driving the company to its death bed have looted enough to pocket EACC sleuths and evade or buy justice.
DCI should also investigate their fake academic papers and incompetence that is reflecting on the company’s poor performance.
Muhoroni Sugar Company is soon grinding to a complete halt.
“ We are calling upon EACC and God-sent DCI George Kinoti to intervene and rescue us from this group that has threatened to unleash terror to anybody who will stop their plans’’ they said.
MUSCO is dead broke with the merciless looting cartels milking out whooping billions from its coffers through dubious deals with electric makers.
The one time loud mouths who stood with the company before have also been bought and silenced with portions of the loot to watch Muhoroni’s slow death gain momentum.
“We are not surprised that the voices that have constantly praised the Company fervently because of self-interest on radio, T.V and social media platforms have suddenly gone mute without any reason,” they added.
