Nightingale Medical Centre, located in Kondele, Kisumu, is facing a major crisis as former employees accuse the proprietor, Dr Philip, and the HR Manager, Madam Faith, of failing to pay their salaries.
The situation has resulted in a mass exodus of staff, including consultants, leaving the hospital in the hands of junior medical officers to manage patients.
According to a former employee who spoke to us, salaries were initially paid through Stima Sacco, but this arrangement came to a halt after Nightingale gave bouncing cheques to the financial institution.
The source further revealed that those who ask for salaries are threatened with being fired, which has resulted in an uncomfortable work environment for the remaining staff.
This problem has left many employees in a dire financial situation, forcing them to leave their jobs despite the heightened need for medical professionals in the area.
The source calls for intervention to save the suffering staff, who have dedicated their time and effort to provide quality medical care to patients.
Despite repeated attempts to reach the Nightingale Medical Centre management for comment, they have not yet responded to the allegations.
The hospital management should act quickly and address the issue to ensure that the affected employees receive their long-overdue salaries and restore confidence in the institution.
