A video doing rounds on Whatsapp and Youtube mocks Deputy President William Ruto’s catchphrase “Tumetenga” in reference to his overflowing basket of pledges and lies on treasury allocations of various projects.
Roads, a hospital, Bomet University and even upgrading of the Kapsabet Stadium seem like the main issues bothering Kericho County Residents, who have vowed to teach Jubilee a lesson in the forthcoming by-elections, for their consistent lies and unfulfilled pledges.
They also claim that former Senator Charles Keter, recently appointed by Ruto as Energy Minister is an unapologetic nepotist, employing his relatives in key positions. He recently promoted his cousin to be the new MD of Kenya Pipleline Company.
On the other side, elite Kikuyu’s led by Equity Bank Chairman Peter Munga and former KRA Commissioner General Michael Waweru, in a bid to show how proactive they were, held a mini-fundraiser at Windsor Golf and Country Club, raising Kshs. 51m to facilitate MPigs, MCA’s and Governors mobilize youths into registering as voters.
Just like Kalenjins, Kikuyu’s are equally a disillusioned lot, and the elites who live in Nairobi, driving posh cars, taking their posh kids to international schools, will be very surprised by the hostility on the ground. Clearly old men in this country cannot read the signs of the time.
Kenyans are clear in their minds what the Jubilee manifesto contained. Anything short of that is simply a waste of time and money. Furthermore, President Kenyatta has a lot of money he has made from milk deals with Nigerians. Only an idiot would contribute to his campaign
It is quite unfortunate that President Kenyatta and his Deputy Ruto have hinged their entire re-election strategy on the fact that neither Kikuyu’s or Kalenjins can vote for Raila. And being that he’s the only viable opponent, they have opted to rest easy, taking their mandate for granted, and constantly treating the country to lies and more lies. Let Kericho be a lesson of what lies ahead.
