The family of the late Njenga Karume has responded to media reports, after his grandson killed his wife by throwing her off his 4th Floor apartment in Gracia Building within Kiambu Town.
The lady fell over and hit the wall surrounding the apartment block, dying instantly. The murderer later claimed that she threw herself, yet eye-witnesses claim that he hid from the police when they attempted to arrest him.
Meanwhile a lady by the name of Wamaitha Beckham posted on Facebook and claimed that the murderer was the reason she relocated from Kenya to Qatar. All indications show that she may have possibly dated the young Karume, and was also a victim of his violent tendencies.
Residents of Kiambu Town have threatened to demonstrate and paralyse operations in the county, should the courts use frivolous technicalities to dismiss the case. “We know Kiambu Police might be compromised to do shoddy investigations and the case thrown out due to technicalities, and this will trigger a backlash from Kiambu residents,” said a commentor.

STATEMENT FROM THE KARUME FAMILY ON THE ARREST OF KEN KARUME
On Thursday night (March 24th), shortly before midnight, a number of our family members received phone calls that loud commotion was underway at Mr. Ken Karume’s residence.
The details of the ruckus remained unclear until we were informed that Ken’s girlfriend, Mumbi Kalungia, had sustained fatal injuries from a fall and Ken had been arrested for questioning in this regard.
Until the later part of Friday afternoon, efforts were being made to contact Mumbi’s family. Unfortunately, several media outlets published unverified details of this story, prematurely disclosing the demise of Mumbi, before her family had been properly informed.
This is a very difficult time for both the families of these two young people. Investigations are still underway and due diligence without the murk of speculation or sensationalised rumors needs to prevail.
Please continue to keep the family of Mumbi in your prayers and allow all affected by this very tragic event to grieve in privacy and peace.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
