Hi Cyprian.
I work with the Dreams Project, Kisumu. I am a mentor. Our local implementing partner is Ace Africa. There are so many things going wrong around here.
First and foremost, our stipend takes eternity to be disbursed in our accounts. We haven’t been paid September stipend to date. At times we are threatened by the Ward Coordinator that if you dare raise a complain about it then you will be in trouble.
For example there is a time the Path fellows were to come for a spot check and we were coached on what to say and what not to say. We mentor girls between 9-24 years and their details kept in a file. These files have requirements that should be in each and every file. So they always don’t give us these things till the last minute and go as far as threatening us that before they lose their jobs they will fire us first so no one should spill the beans!
The current Ward Coordinator doesn’t even possess leadership skills. His name is Sonny Muhati and is sorrounded by two women, Joy Matinee and Mary Anyiko. He doesn’t even listen to our concerns. He listens to what these two women say and he has even started firing mentors who aren’t in good books with the above two ladies.
For fear of losing our jobs, some of us are mum about it but I would love this to reach the donors. How can I mentor someone and am stressed myself. These two ladies bring him foodstuffs so you can’t tell Sonny anything about them. They are mentors like us but you will find him and these two ladies in the office just gossiping and giggling. Kindly help us. Our stipend is only 8K and they even threatened to lower it to 6K and we are doing a lot of work! Kindly get back and please don’t reveal my identity! Thank you.
