A Kenyan fraudster on the run from the Rwandan Authorities, believe it or not, has put up his newest project for financing on a leading crowdfunding site, link here, a social impact investing platform.
Mr. Nathan Loyd Ndungu previously ran an outfit called Avo Health EPZ Limited (the Company), an entity that was wound up in 2015 due to financial distress, sinking with millions of shillings belonging to creditors, including Kenya SME fund.
Now, looks like the turn to get a piece of the “Social Impact Investors” pie.
This adds to the call to investors to be careful of the cause behind which they put their hard-earned money. Sometimes, like in this case, the worst is not that they will lose their money which obviously they will, the worst is that their money actually causes harm and damages local communities who they were trying to help in the first place.
Your guess is as good as mine as to what the fugitive whose names lies alongside Rwandan genocide suspects in the 2014 Rwandan extradition list can do with the money.
According to its website, Lendahand is an online impact investing platform, where socially conscious investors can invest in entrepreneurs and sustainable initiatives in emerging countries.
This is clearly a case of someone sleeping on the job and not doing even basic due diligence. After all, there is no shortage of ventures in Kenya and Africa which the socially conscious investors can back.
