A video doing rounds online shows Sudan protesters storming the house of deposed former leader Omar Al-Bashir.
The protesters were chanting their version of ‘Haki Yetu’ like Kenyans did in 2002 when former president Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi was removed from power.
The only difference is that there was no looting of Bashir’s home belongings. The people were merely shouting that the home and its belongings are from Sudan’s oil wealth and thus all of them (house and items inside) belong to the Sudanese people.
Omar Al-Bashir ruled Sudan for over three decades but was deposed by the army owing to 5 month’s long sustained demonstrations by the people who were protesting rising cost of living.
The military transitional council has Bashir in custody at Kobar Maximum Prison as it grapples with plans of how it can return the country back to civilian rule.
