Earlier today, chaotic scenes were observed at St. Annes School Academy Kajulu in Kisumu East after parents stormed the school on learning that heir kids weren’t in the register for this year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).
The school’s management at St. Annes school thought it wise to register only the what they considered as the 20 top-performing students leaving out 26 ‘weak’ ones.
On the day when the KCPE exams started, this revelations seems to be coming to light, and it seems entrenched and should worry educationists.
Another scandal
Oganda DEB Primary School in Nyamache Sub-County, Kisii County has come under fire for the same reason. The concerned parents have decided to raise the issue with the Cabinet Secretary for Education Prof. George Magoha.
An Open Letter to Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha
Mr. Cabinet Secretary, we wish to bring to your attention the following SAD state of affairs happening at Oganda DEB Primary School in Nyamache Sub-County, Kisii County under the watchful eyes of your field Officers:1). For the last 3 years the school has registered the school has registered pupils it considers weak at Nyamache Adult centre as:
2017 | 2018 | 2019 | |
Samuel Oganda | Abel Makworo | Stephen Nyaega Oganda
Justus Ontere | Janet Sakayo | Lawrence Mbaka Oganda
Evans Jeremiah | Deborah Sakayo | Kevin Obare Bob
John Joseph | Joseph Oganda
Ruth |
2). The 2019 class 8 pupils were 36 in attendance but only 26 are registered candidates in the school. Where could the other 10 remaining candidates be registered and whose capitation were they using for the whole year?
3). The CDE Kisii Mr. Pius Ng’oma was notified about the KCPE malpractice on 11th March,2019 and promised to investigate the same but nothing to date! Could he be part of the Officers who sanctioned the malpractice?
OUR CONCERNS:
- Is it Government policy to register the so called weak candidates in private KCPE centres?
- Are public schools centres for faked results?
- Whats the future of our children in the neighbourhood of Oganda DEB Primary who donated land for a school but are forced write examinations in a private Adult centre?
- Could the Head teacher Madam Angela Onchomba (Mrs. Sindiga) be a sacred cow since she is a KNUT official who has been given permission to kill the dream of our children.
