The family of Salim Moriasi, also known as DJ Goodie, is still seeking justice for the young man’s tragic death.
On Christmas Day, the 27-year-old DJ was allegedly killed after refusing to play a song request at the County Lux Comfort Hotel in Marikanani, Kilifi.
Despite the passing of weeks, the perpetrators of this heinous crime have yet to be apprehended.
The family has called on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to revisit the case, following the emergence of CCTV footage that appears to show DJ Goodie being pushed down a staircase leading to the second floor of the nightclub.
The fall resulted in injuries to various parts of his body.
A post-mortem examination conducted at the Coast General Hospital mortuary revealed that the cause of death was cardiorespiratory arrest and severe head injury.
The family also accused DJ Goodie’s employer of attempting to obstruct the investigation into his death.
One of the nightclub’s bouncers allegedly booked the deceased as an unknown patient at the Mariakani Sub-County Hospital, despite the fact that he had worked at the establishment for six years.
The hospital, in its report, stated that the persons who brought DJ Goodie to the hospital claimed he had fallen down a flight of stairs.
According to the family, the manager of the hotel was the one who arranged for a taxi to take DJ Goodie to the hospital.
“The murder was heinous, and the same club claims its long-time worker was an unknown Kenyan male. Our son was brutally murdered in cold blood by known people, and clips are circulating all over, and so far, nobody is in custody,” said a family spokesperson.
“Those who took him to the hospital told the doctor that he was a drunkard found lying on the floor. However, the doctor looked at him and recommended a CT scan. We call upon the police to move swiftly and arrest the killers.”
The tragic loss of DJ Goodie is a stark reminder of the need for swift and decisive action in cases of murder.
The family’s call for justice serves as a plea for closure and an end to the ongoing suffering caused by this senseless act of violence.
The footage in question provides a crucial piece of evidence in the investigation and should be used to bring the perpetrators to justice.
