Here we go again; yet another Asian-owned firm faces accusations of employee exploitation.
In our continuing “Slavery in Kenya” series, companies like Blowplast, Safepak, Flower City, Orbit Chemicals, Vitafoam, and Chandaria Industries, among many others, are heavily mentioned.
They force countless workers to endure slavery-era conditions just to take home peanuts in the name of wages.
As repeatedly observed in past submissions forwarded to this blog, a Kenyan-run administration is almost always at the centre stage of the mayhem.
In this latest case, it is a Kenyan Director named Walter Otiso who is allegedly mistreating workers at Chinese Real Estate Limited, a development firm located at Afya Center, along Tom Mboya street in Nairobi.
The origin of its owners is self-explanatory from the name.
Mr Otiso has reportedly been defrauding unsuspecting buyers by failing to issue title deeds for plots of land sold under the rogue company.
Sometimes he sells a single parcel to over four clients.
Most victims are left stranded in courts looking for justice, but as we all know, that is virtually nonexistent in our corrupt Kenyan system.
This shocking information was brought to light by a former disgruntled agent who claims that the company also does not pay out commissions to its workers.
Writing to us on Tuesday, June 28, the informant revealed that by the time she left the company earlier this year, they owned her over Sh200k in arrears.
That is not all. The plot further thickens.
According to the former staffer, it is rumoured that Mr Otiso has been siphoning funds from his Chinese bosses and channelling them to his proxy firm “Clivetons Real Estate” which is supposedly registered under the name of his side-chic to avoid raising suspicions.
It is no wonder that Mr Otiso enjoys a fairly lavish lifestyle.
He comfortably takes care of multiple female partners and has recently embarked on a career in politics; eying the Masige Ward representative seat in the upcoming August election on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.
He has milked the company so much that its offices’ front doors always remain shut, lest rogue county council askaris bulge in and demand documents for unpaid levies.
“Hi, Nyakundi, there is this real estate company I want to expose.
The company is Chinese Real Estates Limited.
The Director Walter Otiso is vying for MCA in Masige West Ward on an ODM ticket.
He is used to selling plots to more than one client; he doesn’t issue title deeds to clients and also doesn’t pay the people who sold him land.
He has messed up lots of Kenyans and doesn’t pay his sales agents their commission.
Their offices are located on the 10th floor of Afya Center.
He can sell a single plot to 4 clients and none of them will find justice.
He is the sole proprietor, so you bring him clients, and he pays you.
He is literally everything in the company.
He receives payment, supposed to pay you 10% of the value of the land, then he doesn’t and the money piles and you just give up.
He owes me over 150k-225k.
Your client pays, but he won’t communicate because he doesn’t want to pay you the commission and it piles up.
Literally lives large at the expense of Kenyans who are sacrificing to own a piece of land.
The guy has 3 women and several children.
The picture above is that of the latest wife.
I don’t know if she’s a side-chic or what arrangement they are in.
The company is making money.
Right now as we speak, alitoa zile vitu huekwa kwa mlango reading the company name.
He can’t even pay “Kanjo” so the office is closed.
He owes very many unsuspecting Kenyans lands and titles.
He used Chinese company money to open Clivetons Real Estate.
After every payment Walter has to be with Carol, nothing will be paid to your commission office bill.
I don’t know much about Carol’s company, but I feel she is not that clean, given her strong association with Walter,” writes the source.
