On Sunday, Kenyans were exposed to details of how the fight against the novel coronavirus was turned into a business by cartels under the watch of the high and mighty scavengers in the country.
As expected, there was a lot of momentum as angry Kenyans demanded accountability in the use of billions of shillings allocated for Covid-19 interventions, however, a day later and everything is back to normal.
Politics now reign as Senators vs the deep state over the revenue sharing formula capture everyone’s attention.
“They are now diverting the attention of Kenyans from the theft of Covid-19 funds to the politics of 2022. But what we are saying is, let the government make full disclosure on how the funds were used before soliciting the same from donors,” Former Senator Johnstone Muthama says.
It’s no secret Kenyans are reaping what they sow, we participated in giving thieves power by overwhelmingly voting for this regime, despite having a demonstrated track record of high scale corruption in it’s first term.
Even as momentum decreases, here are a few reactions from Kenyans on Social media that might inspire you come 2022:
Yo,
Just a reminder that Doctors and other healthcare all over the Country have not had a salary for >3 months
And they are expected to show up, without PPEs, bounced loans& mortgages, rent areas and inability to care for their families needs#Covid19Millionares #SenateLive

Dear Kenyans, when you're busy online trending #EnoughIsEnough , look at what others are doing. We should be talking about a #RevolutionNow #Covid19Millionares https://t.co/P9DzGXh5Hz

I hope #Covid19Millionares is the wakeup call we all need as a country to do better.
The sad part is we all knew this would happen and as always, our leaders did not disappoint.
Stealing funds and desperately needed equipment during a pandemic is as low as it gets. Such a shame!— Aisha Taib Bajaber (@AT_Bajaber) August 17, 2020
#Covid19Millionares Why are we surprised that Covid-19 monies have been stolen? Didn't we predict that Kenya's real problem is not Covid-19 but kleptocracy? Even monies for investigating the theft will be stolen! The thieves are not only protected but are in power! Shame! pic.twitter.com/hxfahGkVpH
