Tourism and Wildlife CS Najib Balala is once again on the spot after he pushed for the appointment of a former Mombasa County Government communication officer, who is facing multiple graft charges as the new Communications Director of Kenya Wildlife Service.
Trizer Mwanyika has already reported to her new work station at KWS courtesy of CS Balala despite reports of her possessing a fake EACC and DCI clearance certificates. Mwanyika is set to appear in a Mombasa court on the 10th of March for the hearing of her corruption case before Chief Magistrate Ednah Nyaloti.
She was charged in 2018 alongside, former Mombasa County Government head of procurement Crispine Odhiambo and former County Assembly Clerk Tubman Otieno . The three-faced several graft charges including flouting of procurement laws and irregular award of tenders.
They were released on Sh500,000 bond each after denying the charges before Mombasa’s Anti-Corruption Court in case No. 6 of 2018.
CS Balala is already being probed by the EACC over a suspicious tender payout worth Sh100 million at his Ministry. EACC wants Balala to explain how he engaged a supplier before the tender was awarded. It’s alleged that Balala signed documents meant to be approved by the Principal Secretary, approving the payments for the suspicious tender in his ministry.
