Hi Nyakundi,
Help my best friend(customer ) who is going through a very hard time & feeling depressed after Standard chartered bank staffs stole ksh 300,000 from her bank account on the day of Friday 09/04/2021 ). She has never stopped crying & it is worrying everyone.
My friend received an e-mail of a transaction alert from the Standard Chartered bank on 09/04/2021 that ksh300,000 had been withdrawn from her acct. A contact number was on the alert to call for any queries.
The customer was not in the Nairobi area & lockdown was in place, she called & reported the incident & the case was passed to the ‘investigation team’. The team said they have clear CCTV footage of the thief who came into the Yaya centre branch & withdrew money as a counter cheque at the cashier’s till.
Nyakundi, remember the customer has never lost her ID or bank card. They are always & still in her wallet. The bank said this thief produced an ‘ID’, ‘ answered questions correct’ & was able to ‘match’ the customer’s signature.
All these are details that are accessed by bank staffs & organised an inside Fraud, it has been almost 2 months now, customer has cooperated so much & provided all information to help get back her money but the bank has refused to refund. The bank started asking for a passport from the customer which is irrelevant & not applicable because the customer did not use any passport to open her account & does not have a passport to provide to the bank. The bank started sending threats of closing the case & has not returned the customer’s money into her account.
The bank has also refused to open a case for the thief caught on their CCTV footage withdrawing money to be arrested or even question the cashier that handled the customer’s ksh 300,000.
What hurts the most is that customer has struggled soooo hard to save that money for her dad medical treatment. He has Parkinson disease that is caused by some nerve damage & it is now getting severe even affecting his walking or movement, he needs treatment. He was to start treatment last month but all the money was stolen by Standard Chartered bank staffs, unless the bank refunds the customer’s money, her dad has no more hope.
Nyakundi we beg you to expose Standard Chartered bank & ask them to refund customers money, I am sure there are people who have been victims of Fraud from this Standard Chartered bank that will come forward.
All I can say is God bless you in advance.
