Her daughter, Mukami Kimathi,said no reason was given for the arrest of her mother.
“We just saw a contingent of police officers who demanded that she gets into their vehicle. Up to now, she is still being locked up at the station,” she told the press.
Ms Wanjugu also confirmed the arrest through a facebook post.
“True to their word, I have been arrested. Now locked up at Rumuruti police station. Tell my mother that if by tomorrow I will not be alive, I have been killed at Rumuruti”.
Wanjugu’s foundation has been pushing for the resettlement of Mau Mau veterans who have been left landless lived for more than six decades.
The foundation identified some 12,000 acres of land at Thome village which it plans to resettle the veterans.
About a month ago, the Foundation gave 30 Mau Mau veterans ten acres of land where it also built them homes.But Ms Wanjugu has over the time accused a section of politicians of making moves to derail her efforts.
