Muranga is one of the biggest suppliers of water to Nairobi City.
Nairobi pollutes its rivers and expects clean water from the neighbouring counties i.e. Kiambu and Muranga.
There have been calls in the recent past to have Nairobi city charged at the county level for polluting and even using water from Kiambu and Muranga respectively.
At some point, in late last year, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and his Muranga counterpart has a spat over water. WaIria has threatened to cut-off water supply to the city.

Ndakaini Dam which is located in Muranga is one of the most important water sources for city residents.
In early 2018, the water levels at Ndakaini were too low (below 50%) prompting the city water company (NCWSC) to ration water.
Some experts have fingered the World Bank funded Northern Collector Tunnel that is said to be collecting water to feed the Kenyatta Family owned Northlands estate (a Kshs. 500 billion white elephant built on stolen funds) that is under constructed in Kiambu as one of the problems that Muranga residents have in regards to water availability

Hey Cyprian,
Things are tough here for the residents of Ithanga located in Muranga county Gatanga constituency.
Despite the governor Mr. Mwangi WaIria bragging everywhere with his slogan “No Wira Tu” – hapa kazi tu and the constituency supplying water to Nairobi residents; the people of Ithanga are discriminated and do not have access to clean water.
The discrimination is mainly because the communities here are a mixture of Kambas and Kikuyus.
The leaders think that residents of this area are foolish and they isolate them from accessing county resources.
Below is a photo of the residents lining-up to fetch water that is very dirty.
Kindly assist in exposing this hypocrisy that is happening in Muranga county.
