Sports Kenya (formerly Sports Stadia Management Board) has denied a request by Gor Mahia football club to play their quarterfinal match at the Moi International Sports Centre – Kasarani.
The club had written to the organisation to allow them play their CAF Confederation Cup against RS Berkane at Kasarani, but the sports Kenya in a letter said that the facility is not available due to earlier scheduled events.
Reason
Rachel Ruto, wife to Deputy President (DP) William Ruto is having a christian conference christened the ‘Shepherds Conference’.
How can this happen that a continental tournament is denied rights to the best stadium in the country because of prayer rally? In a country that does not show love to its children, looting and plunder everywhere, what are we praying for?
To save face, the government says that the facility had been booked by the Kenya Association of Manufacturers for an Expo from April 3-7. Can’t the expo be held at KICC or even Rwanda?
The core business of a sports stadium is to hold sports events.
Reaction of Kenyans
Some Kenyans have expressed disgust at the issue.

Amina should take the expo to KICC or Jivanjee but for us we need "Gor Mahia" to play at Kasarani.
