The Anti corruption body EACC has supported the illegal extension of the term for Rural Electrification and Energy Corporation (REREC) Managing Director Peter Mbugua.
The REREC board had been accused, through an anonymous complaint, of favouring Mr Mbugua in his appraisal and failure to open the position to other candidates.
Mr Mbugua took over from Ng’ang’a Munyu in March 2017 in a position that one is supposed to serve for a period of 3 years.
Munyu, was forcefully removed from office in 2017, through machinations by Mbugua, to pave the way for an audit into how billions of shillings were spent in a primary schools electrification scheme.
His reappointment and support from EACC is very suspicious.
