EACC is set to investigate corruption in Meru University of Science and technology as revealed by the Auditor General Mr. Edward Ouko. The Vice Chancellor Professor Magambo and his partner in crime Professor Gitonga are in panic mode as EACC cracks the whip.
Magambo and Gitonga, who have been accused of operating an illegal budget, have failed what would be a great institution. From Illegal useless expulsions to procurement scandals, Professor Magambo has done everything to rule the university like his mother’s kitchen.
But Kenyans doubt EACC’s ability to investigate and deal with these looters because the likes of Harakhe Waqo have perfected the art of extortion. We urge Waqo not to use this chance for extortion from the Meru University crooks.
Under Crook Professor Magambo and his partner in crime Professor Gitonga, Meru University of Science and Technology did not operate within the approved budget Says Dr Edward Ouko’s explosive report.
The asset recovery agency should also swing into action and freeze all Investments made by Magambo and Gitonga using looted bucks from Meru University. This is why we have always insisted that money stolen from public coffers is invested in the booming real estate sector. This is the same sector bribed mainstream journalists like Wallace Kantai and Terryanne Chebet have been telling Kenyans is booming without revealing the source of the funds. Brown envelope journalism will finish this country.
Institutional mediocrity and the culture of impunity have rocked Meru University as those supposed to help watch. The Chancellor Meru University Dr James Mwangi can’t comment on Meru University corruption because he was recently exposed for stealing 60 Million from an account holder.
Waranty of arrests should be issued against the two crooks before they flee the country to enjoy the loot. Magambo and Gitonga should deposit their passports, step aside and let investigations proceed. They must also be monitored so that they cannot attempt to flee like Munir, the former National Bank of Kenya crook .
