Maranda High School students, earlier today, set dormitories on fire.
At least, that is according to the official narrative. However, sources say the fire incident might be the work of the school’s management.
According to some parents, Maranda issues stems from the Covid-19 calendar that has piled pressure on the kids.
Issues to do with the school’s administration mismanaging student pocket money that they teachers keep for students.
Furthermore, the principal together with his deputies aren’t up to the task.
“The school, like the rest, are hell-bent on extorting parents. Increasing fees from Ksh45k pa to Ksh63k against government directive.
According to a screenshot seen by cnyakundi.com, ‘the principal and his deputies are fighting over money.
“(the school) Principal is at war with deputies over cash…motivation fund,” a post in the WhatsAPP screenshot stated.
Cnyakundi.com has learnt that the motivation fund is Ksh8000 per student per year. They have 2500 students. You can imagine what money we are look at.
“The deputies mislead the principal into imposing decisions on students is one problem the other is about the remedial fees we had paid that the students claims that were removed yet they know we paid for the same. The other one is that the students who were held for burning school last time were innocent as they claim that the burning had been organized by one of the deputies and some very minor cases that could have been solved so easily like victimizing students who spoke in a meeting they held and had been promised no victimization on airing their problems but were after meeting sent home and others,” a post in the WhatsAPP group said.
The video shared below is of a student whom some parents think could be a sacrificial lamb so that parents are told to pay.
