Residents of Gacigoni village in Kirinyaga County are in shock after a four-year-old girl was found brutally murdered on Monday, a day after she was reported missing.
Reports show the girl was sent by her grandmother to buy a packet of flour on Sunday evening at around 6 pm but she never returned.
“When darkness fell and she had not returned, I called my neighbours and we began to search for her. We searched for her the whole night but in vain…,” the grandmother painfully recalled.
“In the morning it’s when we heard people screaming and saying that her body had been found.”
The girl’s body was found dumped at a coffee plantation with blood oozing from her mouth and private parts.
A packet of flour was also found at the scene, indicating she was accosted while heading back home.
Gichugu Deputy OCPD Alfred Ng’eno said police had launched investigations into the incident.
The girl’s body was moved to Kibugi Funeral Home in Kutus town.
The incident comes after a member of the same family — a 31-year-old cousin to the deceased girl — was found murdered and his body dumped at Thirikwa Coffee Factory’s farm last year.
