Two families in Tana River County are strongly considering filing charges against the Nation Media Group for causing anguish and anxiety by publishing a news story without proper verification of facts.
The piece that appeared in the Daily Nation covered the tragic road accident that took the life of KEBS North Eastern Regional Manager Ahmed Antar and his two daughters on the evening of Monday, 4th April 2022.
Antar was driving his twins for an interview at the Sheikh Khalifa Secondary School in Mombasa.
But on their way back, Antar’s car hit a lorry, killing all those on board.
In total, there were five people in the vehicle because the deceased had offered a lift to two more people.
Although most of the details in the Daily Nation’s publication were correct, the media house failed to use the correct photo to physically identify Mr Ahmed Antar.
Instead, they attached that of his friend, Mohamed Qaras who is a former MP and a Deputy Gubenitorial aspirant in Mandera County.
Mr Qaras, through his Twitter page, has now revealed that he is consulting his lawyers for further action against Nation.
Antar is survived by his wife, a nurse at Garissa County and four other children.
