The family of a Nakuru man who survived a grisly road accident involving a speeding vehicle steered by a member of Governor Lee Kinyanjui’s campaign entourage is crying out for justice after the county boss reportedly abandoned his earlier pledge to cater for his treatment following the tragic incident.
Albert Khaya, who is the sole breadwinner in his family, was among two lucky victims who luckily escaped death in the calamity that claimed two lives.
He suffered an initial hip dislocation which later turned out to be a fracture.
Writing to us on Monday, 13 June, a brother to the victim revealed that ever since the incident that took place in Free Area, Nakuru, all their calls to Governor Kinyanjui and his team have gone unanswered.
In a Facebook post published on Monday, 23, May, the Ubuntu People’s Forum party leader promised to ensure that all survivors would be accorded medical care.
“Our heartfelt condolences to the families of the departed.
In the meantime, we are ensuring that all survivors are accorded due medical care.
We take this opportunity to urge all road users to exercise caution on our roads,” he wrote to his followers.
Below is what the victim’s kin have to say.
“Hi, Nyakundi,
This is what Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui said after the accident but up to now our brother Albert Khaya is in pain and his team led by one Dominic Maina and the mother one Mama Liz are not picking up our calls and they are just returning hopeless texts to us.
They knocked our brother down, and the results showed he had a hip dislocation which early turned out to be a fracture.
Albert cannot walk, and his family is suffering because he is the breadwinner.
Please, help us tackle this issue, please,” the source writes.
