In our riveting release covering the unfolding corruption at Sports Kenya (previously referred to as Sports Stadia Management Board), we now bring you details of bribery, involving one of the highest offices in the land.
On the spot is Gabriel Komora, acting CEO of Sports Kenya, a position he has strangely held since January 2012, contrary to all employment laws and regulations in the country.
Gabriel Komora is the younger brother to former Statehouse Comptroller Hyslop Ipu, who influenced his employed at the Sports parastatal. His employment was sanctioned by Sam Mwai, then CEO and a tight bond was forged since 2004.
Young and eloquent, he is fast rising as a corrupt monster like his brother Hyslop.
Sometime during the last week of July, Komora facilitated the travel of Kenneth Mathiu to Kenya, to put final touches on a tender for the organization of the Magic Cup Tournament.
Kenneth Mathiu was put up at the prestigious Hotel Intercontinental in Nairobi by Sports Kenya, and a tripartite meeting, ostensibly to discuss the amount of money to be paid of to Deputy President William Ruto was convened.
At the meeting was Sam Mwai owner of Icon Sports Marketing Limited, Peter Kirigua, proprietor of Pewin Motors Limited, Kenneth Mathiu, the shadowy conman of OpenSide Sports UK that has already conned the Government over Kshs. 70 million, Gabriel Komora, CEO of Sports Kenya and finally Francis Githaiga, Finance Director at Sports Kenya.
It was agreed that a fee of Kshs. 10 million would be paid off to Deputy President William Ruto.
Newly appointed chairman of Sports Kenya Fred Muteti was designated as the courier of the money, due to his proximity with the Deputy President, since he also doubles as Secretary General of URP. Gabriel Komora volunteered to relay the downpayment of Kshs. 2 million, which was collected from Peter Kirigua’s Pewin Motors office in Karen.
It was agreed that Muteti is a broke and hungry guy who didn’t need a lot of money, and a sum of 200,000 was allocated to him. Those exact words were uttered by Githaiga, who seemed to be familiar with Muteti as he is always soliciting for petty allowances after board meetings.
Deputy President William Ruto’s role is to guarantee political-patronage,as Sports Minister Hassan Wario is from URP side of Government. DP Ruto’s task is to achieve the impossible. Help a vehicle dealer owned by a character who has never been in a football stadium, win a football tender.
Did the Deputy President receive the money? Find out tomorrow in the next part.
