A group of students undertaking their attachment programme at the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) have come forward to protest unfair work practices at the corporation’s Naivasha branch.
Speaking to us on Friday, 20th March 2022, one of the affected undergraduate scholars expressed in words how the management at KALRO Naivasha Research Centre has been outrightly misusing them by unlawfully working extra hours without any form of compensation.
Recently, the blatant ethical malpractices soared to a new level when the state agency assigned the recruits to train a group of other students ferried from an unidentified school in Machakos without any prior notice.
To make matters worse, the tediously long exercise extended past working hours.

Despite the visiting school issuing out a handsome compensation, greedy supervisors did not bother to appreciate the attachment students for their efforts.
They gobbled up the entire per diem all by themselves.
It is reported that over Sh100k was dished out that day.
“Hi, Nyakundi,
KARLO Naivasha is misusing attachment students.
There was a school from Machakos which came for training.
They were directed to attachment students who spend over 8 hours with them but imagine they were never paid .
The supervisors took per diem of 10k and other officials 5k leaving out the rest,” the source writes.
