Kenya Power has invited bids for the supply of 199,157 single phase post-paid meters, altering their earlier intention to fully transition to pre-paid meters. According to the firm, the move to pre-paid meters was a move aimed at ending payment defaults.
However, the firm is now inviting manufacturers and suppliers of the meters to bid for the tender that close on 17th January 2020.
As reported by Business Daily, the firm earlier blamed its piling debts on non-payment of electricity bills by post-paid customers, shortage of meter readers, and disputed bills by households and industries.
Kenya Power is a limited liability company which transmits, distributes and retails electricity to customers throughout the country.
