After this site highlighted the shenanigans at the Kenya Red Cross owned Switch TV, a former staff wrote to us the following.
The pain of the sacked staff is still throbbing. Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) is sinking, the Secretary General Abbas Gullet retires today and goes away for good.
In his last years, he has plundered and looted the place to the ground. The cracks are showing and he chose to jump out.
You people are fond of talking about corruption in the Civil Service Sector but forget about the private sector.

Thank you for highlighting the previous matter on Switch TV. It helped our cause.
I am one of the Switch TV employees who was terminated in July. We were called to a meeting on Monday and on Friday we received our redundancy letters.
We were advised that we could withdraw our pension contributions from Jubilee. We took our time knowing that we would eventually get the cash.
Lo and behold! When we went to pick our initial cheques, they were partial payments. Apparently deapite the fact that our Payslips showed that Kenya Red Cross was deducting all the statutory deductions from our salaries ie KRA and pension, these monies were not being remitted to Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) or Jubilee Insurance.
It took concerted pressure and a report to the Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA) for us to even get a partial payment towards our deductions.
We initiated the next withdrawal for our pension last month. We were asked to withdraw the missing months less July which till now Switch TV hasn’t paid up.
So at Jubilee the Pension guy some old and tired guy called Samuel Orenge has been taking us in circles.
Despite filling out all the necessary forms we haven’t been paid. He said we’d be paid by 27th December. The old and tired man who doesn’t pick calls or communicate regularly is a spin doctor who Jubilee has employed to manage the expectations of frustrated pensioners.
He claims that he is afraid to approach and push his bosses to sign the cheques and so far only one signatory has signed the cheques.
Aren’t these people hired to serve their customers? Or being away for holidays is more priority than getting people paid what is owed to them?
The Customer care at Jubilee stinks! They are understaffed and therefore very inefficient.
Kindly highlight this issue because Jubilee is adding salt to the wounds of the Switch TV employees that they terminated simply because they couldn’t afford them.
Kindly conceal my identity.
