Veteran Kenyan Dj, Dj Pinye has been trending this morning after he sent out a very strong message during a morning radio show on Friday.
Pinye sent a message to Kenyan DJs asking them not to play mediocre music like “Lamba Lolo” and “New Position”. He further went on to say that during his mixing days, he wouldn’t play artistes like Khaligraph and DNA because they were still immature and their music was mediocre as well.
“There are artists whose music I did not play back in the days including KHALIGRAPH and DNA but their career has grown. I cannot play Lamba Lolo or New Position. Djs shouldn’t play mediocre music.”
These words sent Kenyans on social media crazy with some heavily criticizing Mr. Pinye and insisting he was out of order for saying that.
Here are some of the comments.
Imagine not playing lamba Lolo because you think you are too mature. Tragic

Everyone is entitled to opinion but imagine sio amust saa zingine uonge. Such a reckless statement with a lot of irony in it. You can play international songs that are literally trash but local musicians who are busting their balls to make music cant get a playback from you. Smh

Just to remind him, the year is 2018 not 1820. Kids don't need some old DJ to play their song so they prosper. "Mediocre" music will hit more than what you call the "mature" ones.

I am big Pinye fan – But let him know times have changed – can’t force a certain song down the throats of listeners – people chose what entertains them – you work is to cue & look for a similar beat.

Bullshit. This guy thinks we are in in 04 where the only way we could consume music is through the beat.
