The president, during yesterday’s Jamhuri celebrations, remarked that those lawmakers who are representing governors in court should desist as that is conflict of interest.
His jibe was aimed at the likes of Senators Kipchumba Murkomen (Elgeyo Marakwet), Mutula Kilonzo Jr (Makueni) who are representing Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, who is facing charges of looting over Ksh350 million in a garbage tender.
“The position is simple; you either serve the public in the role you signed up for or you serve the Republic as a private practitioner; it is a profound conflict of interest to do both,” the President said.
Kenyans didn’t let the remarks go unanswered, terming the president and his family as hypocrites, the biggest conflict of interest beneficiaries.
The Kenyatta family since Uhuru came to power in 2013 has seen their fortunes increase hundred golf due to using the states influence to shore up their family businesses.
Recently, the Government of Kenya (GoK) which actually means ‘the Kenyattas’ sent a state aid to the Republic of South Sudan. Guess what? The relief food were packets of Brookside milk. This is one of the items Kenyans had resisisted during the Electoral protests in 2017.
Uhuru directed the Attorney General Kariuki to fast-track submission to Cabinet for approval and transmittal to Parliament the law on conflict of interest.
Here are some of the tweets schooling Uhuru on conflict of interest.
The government of Kenya recently donated milk powder to South Sudan. The milk powder was acquired by the government from Brookside and not from the government owned New KCC, this is #conflictofinterest #JamuhuriDay pic.twitter.com/QKraibngsY

The CMA chairman Mr James Ndegwa owns 4 companies which he also regulates. He is an appointee of H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta. No legislation required to correct this obvious conflict of interest situation. Let H.E start with low hanging fruits such as this 1 #conflictofinterest

My take on Uhuru's rant about #conflictofinterest
1.KCC should be the sole milk provider in all govt offices.
2.Great Rift Valley Lodge should never host any govt retreats.
3.NCBA shouldn't trade at the NSE.#ConfusedPresident

Dan Maanzo, the MP for Makueni Constituency is the other legislator representing the Nairobi Governor.
Sonko is being represented by over 17 lawyers.
