Lynette Njeru who resigned as Kirinyaga county executive committee member for gender and youth was seen as a planted spy in governor Anne Waiguru’s cabinet.
She replaced Judy Kinyua last year after Kinyua was sacked. Immediately she landed the slot, Njeru is said to have established links with Kirinyaga women representative Purity Ngirici, a sworn political enemy of Waiguru.
Being in charge of gender and youth, she has been forwarding important information to Ngirici’s camp.
In her resignation letter seen as a move to preempt a sack, she states: “It is with recognition of the magnitude of responsibility bestowed upon me that I tender my resignation from the office of county executive committee member for gender and youth effective January 15 2020”.
Njeru had received a letter from Waiguru dated December 9 2019. The governor was concerned over Njeru’s overall performance. Governor Waiguru letter read: “Given that you are county executive committee member responsible for effective and efficient service delivery of your department, I hold you accountable fot the overall under performance, ” .
