In recognition of Caroline Mutoko’s kind gesture and philanthropic move to consider contributing a Kshs. 10,000 cheque to a worthy cause, I Cyprian Nyakundi will also match her contribution with another Kshs. 10,000 that will go into the #NyakundiMutokoFund For Mediocre Journalism.
I would urge other stakeholders who are equally disturbed by the appalling media standards in Kenya to perhaps chip in and boost the kitty, as we seek to recognise and shine the light on Kenya’s most mediocre journalists.
How can ordinary Kenyans participate? Simply nominate your most mediocre journalist using the hashtag #NyakundiMutokoFund with a brief description of their most mediocre article, TV presentation, radio show, blog article, appearance, etc.
For instance.
#NyakundiMutokoFund Lillian Muli for acting thirsty when interviewing Konshens.
#NyakundiMutokoFund Larry Madowo for hosting Vera Sidika and Huddah Monroe on The Trend.
#NyakundiMutokoFund Jeff Koinange for hosting NYS thief Ben Gethi.
Our team will then aggregate all names listed under the hashtag and settle on five of the most mediocre, and a poll will be put up on twitter to allow voting for a week.
The most mediocre journalist based on your votes will be the winner and can go collect the cheque from Caroline Mutoko’s office located in Lion’s Place off Waiyaki Way. My contribution will be wired to third-rate radio presenter, wannabe socialite and rehabilitated street-urchin Chipukeezy via MPESA.
Twende Kazi.
