A woman identified as Bajah Crane has taken to social media to mourn one of the US soldiers whose lives were cut short by the al-Shabaab militiamen in Lamu.
Bajah, who is also a military officer not only described the late Mitch Mayfield as her best friend, but also wished they could communicate for the last time to say bye.
Mitch Mayfield was killed in the al-Shabaab attack in Lamu on Sunday, January 2.The distraught woman disclosed she was opposed to Mitch’s deployment to Kenya over constant terror threats and the insecurity in the Horn of Africa region.

The US government confirmed losing one service member and two Department of Defence contractors during the dawn raid at its naval base at the Manda Bay Airfield.
The 23-year-old joined the Army Fort Rucker in 2018. “I just wish I could talk to you one last time! I can’t take this. There’s no way you left. This breaks my heart so bad Mayfield!! It broke me knowing you were leaving me for nine months and it hurt even worse knowing you really left this world. Mitch come back to me,” she continued.
