Staff at a medical facility in Malindi have spoken out against mistreatment from their employer.
Talking to cnyakundi.com under anonymity, one of the employees at Maimoon Medical Centre claims that their Indian boss of multiple breaches of ethics, including verbally insulting his personnel in front of patients.
“Hello, there is this hospital in Malindi called Maimoon Medical Centre, the owner, who is a Muindi is treating workers as slaves. He is ever insulting them every day in front of patients and everyone,” he writes.
He is also accused of legal malpractices like withholding a copy of the employees’ contracts once they put pen to paper.
Even worse, female staff at the facility are said to be heavily disgruntled by the fact that once they get pregnant, immediate and permanent expulsion follows.
“When you sign a contract with him, he does not give you a copy of it,” he says, adding, “When you get pregnant for ladies, he chases you.”
Most are said to be living in fear of losing their jobs watching their families go hungry.
Maimoon Medical Centre is a popular Level 4 medical facility located within Malindi town.
It’s quite a shame that such an accomplished hospital subjects its employees to such conditions.
We urge relevant agencies to look into the claims and ensure justice prevails.
