Facebook’s new name is now Meta.
CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on Thursday, in what is seen as an apparent effort to recast the company’s public image.
The tech giant says the change will bring together its different apps and technologies under one new brand.
This means the change will demote Facebook’s namesake service to being just one of the company’s subsidiaries, alongside Instagram and WhatsApp, rather than the overarching brand.
During the announcement, Zuckerberg declared that the new brand will not change the company’s corporate structure.
