Migori County is not only looted flat to meet financial obligations, it is also facing serious leadership problems marred with confusion that is executed by a gang of corrupt elements who are frustrating deputy governor Nelson Mwita from taking over at the county helm.
The gang is part of the ring operated by Migori Governor Okoth Obado who has been barred from accessing his office over corruption charges.
The dire situation in Migori needs the residents to push their corrupt MCAs to streamline the operations at the county government to enjoy proper service delivery.
Cartels in Migori are working day and night to frustrate DPG Mwita for fear of being exposed over fraudulent deals they had with the controversial Obado.
The time of the corrupt governor’s return to office is not known but his future looks bright after he made peace with Raila Odinga to neutralize ODM attempts to have him impeached.
Obado has also pocketed majority of the county’s MCAs including the assembly speaker and his deputy.
But residents of Migori have raised complaints about intruders who are interfering with protocols that should have the deputy governor allowed to take over.
A section of county officials allied to Obado are working for the cartels to keep away critics and block people like Mwita for fear of being exposed.
The have frustrated all the efforts to have Obado’s deputy ensure quality service delivery to the people of Migori.
Instead of allowing Mwita to take over, Obado and his allies in collusion with the cartels have resorted to taking hard line stance and incitements to keep Mwita out of the county’s top seat.
Obado took a misguided step and transferred the operations of some departmants to is rural home in Rapogi where he is wasting public funds in running an illegal office.
His oiled allies at the county headquarters are giving progressive leaders sleepless nights with constant threats to shut on massive looting through fraudulent deals.
On December 1 Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) sleuths arrested ten corrupt individuals among them senior county assembly officials and contractors over phony deals.
Migori County Assembly Speaker Boaz Okoth , his deputy Mathews Chacha together with members of the Assembly’s Service Board Roland Asiga, Nicholas Rioba, Clifford Jobando and Mrs Meressa Akello were also arrested.
