Corrupt Nairobi businessman Anthony Ombok alias Jamal who was charged alongside former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has now reinvented himself.
The corrupt guy has infiltrated the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) and is one of the corrupt people have collided to loot the new outfit.
Jamal who is listed as a director of ROG Security Limited, is extorting matatu operators saying that he is personal aide of NMS Director General Mohamed Badi and will use his links to allocate them matatu terminals and will ensure those who bribe him are never harrased by County askaris.
Does he have Badi’s blessings?
Jamal too has been extorting contractors who are either chasing tenders or seeking payments from the NMS using the same methods he applied when Sonko was Governor.
Although he was a close ally of Sonko, the shrewd businessman who is said to be at the centre of a simmering tension between NMS and Nairobi Acting Governor Anne Kananu.
Ms Kananu is said to be avoiding him.
Consequently, he has been using some MCAs to tarnish the Nairobi County executive employees’ names. Those who refuse to pay him are blacklisted
Sonko was ousted due to corruption and one of those was the demand of a Sh10 million bribe from Web Tribe Ltd through ROG Security Limited.
The Director of Public Prosecutions had lined up 20 witnesses to testify against Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko in the Sh10 million graft case.
Sonko, Odhiambo, Ombok and their companies, Yiro Enterprises and ROG Security Limited, are accused of embezzling Sh14.1 million. According to the prosecution, Sonko received Sh8.4 million from Odhiambo in December 2018, leading to the charges of conspiracy to commit an offence of corruption, conflict of interest, money laundering and acquisition of proceeds of crime.
On 25th November 2019, Mike Sonko had tried to distort the ae by stating that ‘ROG Security Ltd does NOT do any business with Nairobi City County Government. The security firm is offering private services to AMACO and Webtribe Ltd”.
The former governor went further to sue EACC and EACC Director of Investigations Abdi Muhamud “to stop investigating him because he’s pursuing the investigation of Muhamud over grabbing of land in Mugoya Estate in South C and the acquisition of Integrity Center at an exaggerated cost of Sh1.4 billion”.
In a few months, Sonko would be out of office.
