Employees at Switch Lounge Bar & Grill in Kasarani, Nairobi County, have raised grievances concerning improper working conditions at the local entertainment joint.
We are reliably informed of a deepening state of distress within the establishment as demotivated staff mull over frequent salary deductions sanctioned by a management, which in their own words, seems to care less about its worker’s welfare.
They set their salary at Sh12,000 each month, but on most occasions, staff end up carrying less than Sh5,000 home.
Petty crimes like minimal lateness are heavily punished and often attract penalties of up to Sh1,000.
To make matters worse, despite all the deductions, the management does not carry out NHIF and NSSF remittances.
“Hi Nyakundi,
Kindly highlight this issue of Switch Lounge.
They pay us Sh12,000 monthly, but out of that cash we only receive Sh5,000 and some Sh3,700 due to deductions.
This month alone they are planning to deduct us Sh6000 for uniforms, yet the uniforms are branded with their logos.
NHIF and NSSF deductions are not paid.
Lateness is punished with a deduction of Sh1,000.
This is toxic!” the source laments.
Switch Lounge is infamous for harbouring raunchy “Mchele Terrorists”.
Last year we highlighted how a man from Kasarani lost valuable household items after he foolishly fell into the trap of thirsty vultures disguised as slay queens.
The guy whose story went viral on Twitter narrated how a pair of ladies they ‘Chipo’d’ home with his friend robbed him the following day.
Among the items stolen was a Sh80k laptop and other valuable gadgets.
They guy was lucky enough to record a video of one of the girls when they got to his house that night.
