A few years ago, I Tweeted a question to the then USA Ambassador to Kenya, Bob Godec about the exorbitant amount they charge when someone is applying for a Visa, It is like buying a Visa to heaven.
Though the question was not addressed well, this is a topic of great importance that all of us as Kenyans must address.
I believe the former US Ambassador to Kenya Hon Bob Godec was not a reliable man that could address this issue. Some of us have contacted Godec in the recent past over issues like social media censorship in Kenya and he never acted. Maybe because he was unreliable or didn’t know the weight of the issues.
Moving forward: Why should Kenyans pay thousands when applying for Visa yet almost 99% of them are rejected?
Would the Nairobi Embassy be willing to provide the statistics and an explanation as to why all these exorbitantly applied for Visa are being rejected? Is this a scam to exploit Kenyans?
Here is another concern from a Kenyan
Hey Cyprian
I am a performing artist. I have had two invitations to the States which I’ve been denied Visa for no apparent reason. All I get is a red piece of paper with some funny reasons like I didn’t satisfy my willingness to come back to my home country etc.
I believe the US is out to extort money from Kenyans because if that’s not the case why ask you to pay 16,800 before and not after?
Don’t forget that if your visa application is approved, you are required to pay extra 3,000? Something needs to be done.
