A few days ago, Gatundu South Mp, Moses Kuria, was directed by the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) and National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to place a public apology in all national newspapers.
This is after he insulted the Luo community by making reckless remarks on his facebook page.
The fiery Legislator has finally done as he had been directed by the two parties and placed a public apology in one of the local dailies today. Check it out:
“I am a leader and I have come to the realization that the values and principles that unite us are for the national good. I am aware that the preamble, Articles 10, 21, 73, 75 and 249 of the constitution obligates us to respect each Kenyan and to promote, preserve, fulfill and observe the values and principles of our Constitution.
On 16th May, 2014 I made comments on my Facebook page that were deemed offensive to certain communities and I am remorseful for this.
I therefore wish to apologize to all Kenyans for my lapse in personal judgment for the comments made in the heat of the moment.
It is important to note that the comments were made after a terrorist attack at Gikomba Market and this elicited a lot of anger and frustrations amongst Kenyans including myself.
The comments posted were inexcusable and I apologize to all that were offended.
My pledge to all Kenyans of goodwill is that I will be involved in activities that promote National Cohesion and peaceful co-existence of the Kenyan people as we are one Country and should all co-exist for the National good of the country. I urge all Kenyans to join me in this journey.
Yours Faithfully Hon. Moses Kuria
MP. GATUNDU SOUTH CONSTITUENCY “
