Jacque Maribe, the ex Citizen TV news anchor who is a murder suspect alongside Joseph Irungu aka Jowie has hinted that she is preparing to join the murky world of politics come 2022.
Maribe will go head to head with Sabina Chege, a former Kikuyu vernacular station presenter, Coro FM for the Murang’a woman representative’s seat.
Speaking in an interview on an Instagram Live with a local DJ, Maribe said she has been under pressure from constituents of Muranga to vie for the political seat in the next general election. Asked if she will run in 2022, Maribe simply stated “It is an opportunity. Given the opportunity, why not?”
“I have not ruled it out but what I’m saying is, I have not declared it. I’m receiving a lot of messages with people asking if I will run… The proper response from me is, See you at the finish line!’”
The mother of two has a murder charge hanging over her head since 2018, alongside Jowie (then Fiance), they are accused of the alleged murder of Businesswoman Monica Kimani at her Lamuria Gardens apartment, Kilimani area, Nairobi. They are both out on bail.
Sabina Chege who is currently the women Representative in Murang’a had hinted that she would go for the gubernatorial seat after current holder, Mwangi wa Iria’s second and final term comes to an end, her allies have, however, revealed that she has dropped her interest and is opting to defend her current seat.
Maribe is likely to join deputy president William Ruto’s camp, the fact that her lawyer in the murder charge that she is facing is Katwa Kigen, a very close ally of the deputy president is enough to ensure this.
Jacque Maribe also has a close relationship with Dennis Itumbi who boasts of being the Election Consultant who led a team of specialists to get President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto elected Allegedly, he is the one behind her desire to dive into politics.
