Nairobi – A men’s lobby group, Maendeleo ya Wanaume, Tuesday awarded President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto for hosting US President Barack Obama.
The organisation’s chairman, Nderitu Njoka gave out two he-goats nicknamed The Beast and The Beetle.
While addressing a press conference at White Rhino hotel in Nyeri town, Njoka said Obama’s visit was an honour to Kenya and a show of confidence with the government.
“I have given them them he-goats because in African culture you can not award a man with a she-goat. They will enjoy the meat and soup because they are first Kenyan leaders to host a US President and given him good hospitality,” said Njoka.
The goats, black and white in colour were of over 100 kilograms each.
During the press conference, The Beetle had escaped giving Njoka the extra duty of chasing it around the hotel grounds and finally used sweet potato veins to catch the animal.
Njoka who was accompanied by the organization’s treasurer, Mbiyu Wando lauded President Kenyatta for leading anti-alcoholism and drug abuse war.
“We shall take the goats to State House very soon and we hope the security will allow us in. Uhuru and Ruto are also silent members of this organization,” he stated.
He however complained that President Obama in his address did not mention vices facing men and boy child including lack of education and gender based violence.
“Obama’s visit to Kenya emerged to be a campaign for women and girls empowerment. Men are not happy when leaders continue discriminating the male gender and particularly the boy child in government or global policies,” said Njoka
