For a Govt agency that has not been in the limelight for the wrong reasons, NHIF doesn’t even care anymore.
New information reaching the chief editor of this site points to rot in one of its departments.
According to one of the members of the NHIF Sacco, the outfit has not paid dividends for the last 7 years.
To add salt to injury, in that period of time, there have never been meetings that have been held with members to update them on the financial health of the Sacco.
It seems the Sacco is broke as some people who wish to withdraw, have to wait for money that doesn’t come by.
“I’m a staff from NHIF I have been contributing money to NHIF Sacco for over 20 yrs but things changed since the 2013 no dividend issued no meetings last year I decided to withdraw from it. I have tried to get my shares contributions worth Sh722000 but in vain,” the distressed Sacco member stated.

Series of corruption
In the last few years, cnyakundi.com has documented the rot at NHIF that stinks to high heaven.
The immediate former NHIF board chair Hannah Muriithi, who was unceremoniously replaced, came in with one mission; to loot.
Even before the ink of her signature had dried on the appointment papers. Hannah had already subverted procurement and mwongozo rules to cart away Sh500 million.
It is the culture of impunity at NHIF that has continued to make the place ungovernable as it attracts thieves and robbers.
